We've gone green!
j
|
| Caples Lake Resort is off the grid with its own power, water, propane, and sewer systems. In 2006 we installed the first phase of an Alternate Energy System (AES) with solar modules, inverter/chargers and a large battery bank. We were able to limit our diesel generator operation from 24 hours to 6 hours per day this past summer and will further minimize generator operation with the addition of more solar modules, other alternating energy sources, and continued energy conservation. We ask our guests to help us recycle glass, plastics and aluminum materials. To find out more visit our "going green" page. |

Our history... |
| ~ |
The resort was established in 1939 as a summer high Sierra retreat. |
| ~ |
In 1972 the Kirkwood Ski area was opened and Highway 88 became a year around trans-Sierra route. Bathrooms were added to each cabin and the utilities winterized, and Caples Lake Resort is now a 3-season resort - summer, fall, and winter. |
| ~ |
In 1982 the resort was purchased by John Voss and has been continually remodeled and upgraded since. |
